7 Best No-frills Tapas Bars in Seville & What to Try

A delicious spread of Spanish tapas and beer in Seville

Table of Contents

Seville is known not only for its architecture and flamenco dancing but also for its iconic tapas scene. There are hundreds of tapas bars throughout the city, making them an integral part of the culture. Take your appetite, grab some friends, and enjoy some of the most popular tapas bars among locals in Seville.

Bar Santa Cruz

One of the historic bars in Seville and definitely a no-frills bar. The staff writes your order and bill on the bartop with chalk. There’s no menu, but rather a large chalkboard with a selection. Grab some beers and a plate of jamón, and you are ready to start your night!

Cervecería La Grande

A no-frills bar loved by all locals, this place serves simple, fresh seafood. In traditional Southern Spain fashion, when you order an alcoholic beverage, you will get a free tapa; in this case, it is prawns. Many sit out on the terraza and catch up with friends over beers and delicious seafood. A classic Spanish evening!

Las Golondrinas

Known for its radishes and grilled mushroom with parsley aioli tapas, this bar is located in Triana and filled with beautiful Spanish tile and a cozy (but cramped) atmosphere. This is classic homestyle Spanish cooking, and locals seem to love it.

Bar el Comercio

This is where you get your Spanish churro! It serves a light and fluffy churro you can dip in thick hot chocolate that is perfect for an afternoon treat. Many argue that it has the best churros in Seville. Try it and let us know!

Casa Ricardo

Not only have many locals said that this bar/restaurant has the best croquetas in Seville, but even the world! This place is a must-try and serves a delicious traditional Andalucian tapa, flamenquín (a fried pork roll). The walls are covered with photos and objects significant to the celebration of “Semana Santa” in true Andalusian style.

Bodeguita Romero

Located right down the street from our language center. This bar has outdoor and indoor seating and usually a line during lunch. It has traditional Andaluz tapas, but everyone must try the “pringa montadito” or a small pork sandwich. You will find locals at this bar at all times!

Rinconcillo

One of the oldest bars in Seville, which opened in 1670! This is a classic-looking Spanish bar with cured hams hanging from the ceiling and old wine barrels as tables. It has the best ham you can buy, jamón bellota. This type of jamón comes from acorn-fed pigs that wander freely in the forests and is one of the most expensive hams you can purchase. But absolutely worth it!

We know you’ll love these tapas bars in the historic city of Seville. Check them out during your time abroad; they are all great places to hang out with friends or meet more locals. Ask an advisor at your college’s education abroad office for more direction toward studying abroad, as they will be able to direct you toward the right program for your degree path.
