At Spanish Studies Abroad, we believe that study abroad should be accessible all. Students with disabilities participate in our programs every year, whether that be physical, learning, sensory, mental health-related, or other conditions our students successfully participate in all programs offered. If you are a student who needs accommodations, we encourage you to reach out to us as soon as possible so we can work together to plan that all needs are met. The more time our staff have to prepare, the better we are able to support you through your study abroad experience. Some programs may present accessibility challenges but that is nothing we cannot work around.
Questions to consider
- Does the host country have the proper infrastructure and resources to support my disability needs? What is the process that I need to follow to request accommodations?
- If I take medication, is it legal and available in the country I am travelling to? If it is not, what are my options for bringing / getting what I need while in the host country.
- What kinds of transportation are available in my study abroad country? Are they accessible and safe for my circumstances?
- What mental health resources are available at my host university? Will I still be able to connect with my current therapist while I am abroad, or do I need to accommodate?
