If you are a graduating high school senior who is looking for a meaningful, language-intensive international experience before entering college, or have received mid-year admissions to a college or university, you may want to consider enrolling in an SSA University-Level Semester Program during the gap period.
Students earn university-level credit, take courses alongside other university students, and participate in all regular program activities and excursions.
Gap semester and academic year programs are available in two program locations:
SSA works with Universidad de Alicante to offer language and culture courses specifically designed for non-native speakers.
Our students have frequent contact with the SSA Resident Director, who guides the students through the process of studying abroad and living with a host family.
Excursions include a weekend study trip to Granada or Barcelona and guided visits to the historic city center, theater, Castillo de Santa Bárbara, and more. Students may also participate in workshops for credit ranging from Flamenco guitar and percussion to wind surfing and sailing through Universidad de Alicante’s Living the Culture program.
Designed for the advanced student that has completed the equivalent of intermediate Spanish, the core of the Liberal Arts in Spanish program is a choice of courses in Spanish language and culture taught at the SSA Center by native Spanish faculty.
You immerse yourself in Spanish language and culture while fulfilling the requirements needed for Spanish, international studies, business and other majors. In addition to living in a Spanish home, you are given the opportunity to participate in a full array of study tours, cultural events, and social activities.
